Disclaimer
Please read this before relying on any calculator, guide or figure on RapidTrend.
The short version
Everything on this site is general information only. It isn't financial, credit, tax, legal or superannuation advice, and it doesn't take your personal situation into account. Our calculators give estimates, not quotes, offers or guarantees. Check the details with your lender, fund or provider and speak with a licensed professional before you make a financial decision.
1. General information only
RapidTrend provides online calculators and educational guides about loans, savings, interest, property and superannuation, with a focus on Australia. The content is published for general information and educational purposes.
- It is not financial product advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any product.
- It is not credit advice, and it isn't an offer or approval of credit. We don't lend money or arrange loans.
- It is not tax, legal or superannuation advice.
- It doesn't consider your objectives, financial situation or needs. Before acting on anything here, think about whether it suits you, and get advice from a qualified professional.
We aren't your financial adviser, mortgage broker, accountant or lawyer, and using this site doesn't create an advisory or professional relationship between you and us.
2. How our calculators work
Our calculators work out results from the numbers you enter and a set of simplified assumptions, which are described on each page. For example, they commonly assume that interest rates, rents, pay rises and investment returns stay the same throughout the period, and they may ignore fees, taxes, insurance or other costs.
- Results are estimates. They are not quotes, offers, approvals or predictions.
- A real lender, bank or fund may calculate repayments, interest, fees and comparison rates differently, so your actual figures will usually be different.
- Any "comparison rate" or "effective rate" we show is our own estimate for the figures you enter. It isn't the regulated comparison rate that a lender must display.
- If you enter incorrect or unrealistic inputs, the results won't be meaningful. Always check your entries.
3. Accuracy and changing rules
We try to keep our calculators and content accurate and up to date, but we can't promise they are free from errors or omissions. Interest rates, stamp duty, tax rates, superannuation caps, government schemes and other rules change often, and they vary between states and territories. Examples, figures and rates in our guides are illustrative and may be out of date by the time you read them.
Always confirm current rates, rules and eligibility with the official source, such as your lender or fund, your state or territory revenue office, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) or Services Australia.
4. Loans, property, tax and super
Loans. Loan calculators don't assess whether you would be approved, what rate you'd be offered, or whether a loan is suitable for you. Lenders assess applications on their own criteria. Borrowing carries risk, including that rates may rise or your income may fall.
Property. The investment property calculator uses assumed rents, costs and growth. Property values can fall as well as rise, rental income isn't guaranteed, and you may need to cover a shortfall from your own income. Stamp duty, land tax, insurance, selling costs and capital gains tax aren't all modelled.
Tax. Where a calculator offers a tax estimate, such as for interest income, negative gearing or super contributions, it is a simplified illustration. It doesn't replace advice from a registered tax agent or the ATO.
Superannuation. The superannuation calculator is a projection based on the assumptions you choose. It doesn't include every fee, insurance premium, contribution cap, tax rule or the Age Pension. Your actual balance and retirement income may be very different.
5. Investing and returns
Investment returns aren't guaranteed. Past performance isn't a reliable indicator of future performance, and the value of investments can go down as well as up. A fixed return in a calculator is only a simplified assumption. We don't recommend any particular fund, lender, bank, product or provider, and any mention of one is for illustration only.
6. Third-party links
Our pages may link to other websites, including government and industry sites, for convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy or availability. A link isn't an endorsement of the site or of any product or service it offers.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RapidTrend, its owners and contributors aren't liable for any loss or damage, whether direct or indirect, arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site, its calculators or its content, including any decision you make based on them. You use the site at your own risk.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, that you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, it is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
8. Your inputs and privacy
Our calculators run in your web browser. The figures you type into a calculator are used to produce your result on your own device and aren't sent to us or stored by the calculator. For information about how we handle other data, such as analytics, cookies or any email address you give us, please see our Privacy Policy.
9. Where to get proper advice
For advice that fits your situation, speak with an appropriately qualified and licensed professional, such as:
- a licensed financial adviser, for investments, super and retirement planning
- a mortgage or finance broker, or your lender, for loans
- a registered tax agent or accountant, for tax
- a solicitor, for legal matters such as contracts and property
Free, independent information is also available from MoneySmart (ASIC) and the Australian Taxation Office.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this disclaimer from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version. If you spot an error or have a question, please get in touch through our Contact Us page.
